2014 Jost Selkie Frizzante – Vintages 41899 – $19.95 – **** – This wine comes from Nova Scotia. It’s going to be interesting to see how this wine region develops. There are a small handful of wineries currently operating in the area. The wines definitely speak about where they come from with high acidity balancing sweetness in the bottle. These wines are designed to be paired with seafood. This light sparkling wine offers a tropical burst in the glass with flavours of kiwi, and pineapple. The acidity on this wine will make it a perfect match for seafood of any kind but this will pair easily with Chicken or Pork dishes. Low alcohol on this wine also helps make it drink very easy. If you have the patience to wait for patio weather this would make a perfect addition to any afternoon on the patio (wishful thinking for February?)
2014 Megalomaniac Narcissist Riesling – Vintages 67587 – $17.95 – **** – The Narcissist Riesling is a perpetual favorite of mine. This is a softer version of this wine than previous vintages. If you’re a fan of Granny Smith apple the 2014 vintage will quickly become your favorite because this wine is basically a bunch of apples in a bottle. Great balance between sweetness and acidity has this wine tasting dry and refreshing on the finish even though this is a touch of sweetness in the glass. Another wine that has me yearning for summer because I enjoy this with warm weather and no food. In the meantime, you can enjoy this with Roast Pork or with Perogies and Saurkraut.
