Trius Brut Rosé – Vintages 184309 – $29.95 – ****+ – I’m so excited about this wine I’m not sure where to start. First, it’s very dry with perfectly balanced acidity so it is everything you would expect from a good high quality sparkling Rosé. That being said it’s loaded up with Strawberry, Raspberry, Cherry … it’s a cacophony of bright red fruit flavours. In a matter of speaking this wine should be on your table over the holidays to serve with turkey. Good value and good wine.
2013 Featherstone Canadian Oak Chardonnay – $21.95 – ****1/2 – There isn’t a lot going on with Canadian Oak in the province at this moment, but this wine would be a reason for more people to give it a try. I originally tasted this wine in May and it just keeps getting better. The nose is delicious vanilla, baking spice and roasted pineapple. Once the wine hits your mouth flavours lean towards roasted pineapple, cooked peach with nice vanilla notes. The wine was made using indigenous yeast and fermented in Canadian Oak barrels. It’s hard to get more local than this wine. This wine has me eagerly anticipating the next release but at this price I can afford a few bottles to tide me over until then. Food pairings will be creamy pasta dishes, homemade buttermilk fried chicken (keep it classy), or better yet enjoy it on it’s own.
