2010 Henry of Pelham Estate Pinot Noir – Vintages 268391 – $24.95 – **** – Aromas of smoke and cherry rise out of the glass. This Pinot definitely has a dark side to it. Less fruity and more earthy while the wine settles on your palate but it blooms in your mouth with very nice floral flavours that fill your mouth. The finish on this wine offers up mossy forest floor and mushroom. This is begging to be paired with lamb either from the Barbeque or roasted.
2014 The Foreign Affair Enchanted – Vintages 389767 – $17.95 – **** – I’m a big fan of the appassimento treatment the Foreign Affair gives their white wines. This is a blend of Riesling and Chardonnay and for an unoaked wine it is very rich and concentrated with flavour. This is made in a ripasso style using the skins from Chardonnay to bring some more flavour to the bottle. There is a slight sweetness to the finish of this wine but it is in good balance with the rich fruit flavours and nice acidity on the finish. The flavours are apple and peach with a nice creaminess on the mid palate. Here’s an idea on how to serve this wine — Start at fridge temperature, you are likely going to find more apple and citrus flavours. But leave the bottle out of the fridge and as it warms up you will find Apples move to Peaches and Pineapple.
