2011 Stoney Ridge Excellence Chardonnay – Vintages 254243 – $17.95 – ****+ – It has been nearly a year since I last wrote about this wine. While the price has gone down by seven dollars, I feel that this wine has still improved. This wine offers intense tropical flavours and aromas all wrapped in vanilla. Needless to say be prepared to enjoy something that has spend some time in oak barrels. Be mindful of serving temperature because if this is too cold it will start to taste a little woody. There is nice balance with acidity in this bottle, so even though there is a strong pressence of oak aging the wine still finishes with nice acidity.
2013 Redstone Cabernet – Vintages 415885 – $20.20 – **** – This is a solid bargain for a Red wine that could find a home in your cellar, but is drinking fantastically right now. Soft red fruit that almost tastes jammy are what you will find in your mouth. Raspberry, Red Cherry and Strawberry. The tannin is medium firm but very approachable right after opening. This is one of those red wines that I plan on enjoying young and with some hearty red meats throughout the fall and into the winter.
