2012 Chateau Canteloup Médoc – LCBO 420000 – $19.65 – ***1/2+ – Who said that decent Bordeaux was expensive? or that it had to age in a cellar for years? This is uncomplicated straight forward and most importantly delicious. Fruit driven with very soft tannin on the finish. The nose is everything you would expect from Bordeaux with lots of Black Currant, Plum and Blackberry. The tannin is very soft and approachable right from opening this bottle so don’t count on this bottle to age for more than 3-4 years, but sometimes you don’t want a bottle to age. I will happily pour this to anyone I am trying to introduce to Bordeaux. Pair this with Steak, Burgers, or Pizza.
I saw Chateaux Canteloup Medoc at an SAQ in Gatineau and bought a bottle of the confidence of your review. I was not disappointed. The wine was really pleasing, full but not overpowering. Thanks for the write up.
Awesome! Thanks for reading the site. I’m glad I could help.
