2014 Tawse Spark Limestone Ridge Sparkling Riesling – Vintages 370361 – $20.95 – **** – There is a slight sweet note that is right at the core of this wine from start to finish. The nose is honeycomb and lime with a mineral note. The slight sweetness from the fruit really pops on the palate. There is nice depth to this wine. That being said I wouldn’t stockpile this wine in the cellar. Pick up a few bottles of this to enjoy for your spring entertaining or if you’re lucky save a bottle for summer. This may be the best bottle of sparkling wine at the price in the LCBO period.
2014 Kent-He Voyageur Pinot Noir – Vintages 373407 – $19.00 – ****+ – The concentration of the fruit on the nose of this wine is very intense. The cherry aromas are perfectly ripe and push right up to being candied. The fruit flavours are just as concentrated on the palate as they are on the nose. This is completely fruit driven and satisfying. You could pair this with Coq au Vin or roast Lamb, but there is no reason to just enjoy this wine on its own. This is an outstanding bottle of Pinot from the province at any price. There is nice acidity to balance this wine.
