2014 Kew Marsanne – vintages 485334 – $19.95 – ****+ – This is the only Marsanne in the province, that makes this wine both unique and special. The aromas are tangerine and vanilla making this seem like a creamsicle in a glass. There is a nice note of baking spice that rises up on the mid palate. The texture is creamy but not heavy on the mid palate. There is nice acidity that helps keep this wine from getting sitting too heavy. There is a whisper of smoke that kicks up just as the wine finishes.
2013 13th Street Cabernet/Merlot – Vintages 56598 – $19.95 – **** – There are rich aromas of raspberry, cherry, blackberry and cassis on the nose. The concentration of the ripe fruit is juicy and perfectly ripe. There are hints of smoke and cedar but they are buried under a pile of ripe fruit. The tannin is smooth and approachable but with 2-3 years in a cellar this should soften a little more. However, time in the cellar is not required to enjoy this wine as itβs enjoyable right now. Serve this with roast beef or lamb.
