Wine Review September 28, 2013 – Peninsula Ridge A.J. Lepp Vineyards Merlot 2011 – 2011 13th Street White Palette

2011 Peninsula Ridge A.J. Lepp Vineyards Merlot – Vintages 299222 – $19.95 – When I tasted the 2010 vintage of this wine I was thrilled to find a Merlot that was exciting, unique and just fantastic.  2011 is right on par with the previous vintage.  It’s already flying off the Vintages shelves so make sure you stock up now.  You have flavours of Raspberry and Cherry with a nice medium finish.  On the nose once again there is aroma of damp forest floor that is just satisfying.  You could pair this wine with Steak or a Roast but frankly this wine is best enjoyed on it’s own.

2011 13th Street White Palette – Vintages 207340 – $15.95 – Aromas of Honey and bright Orange.  Flavours that match with a subtle acidity leaving a floral finish on the palate.  The softer acidity makes this wine seem sweeter than it really is.  This is the sort of wine that you will want to pair with spicy asian dishes, or sushi.  This continues to be one of my favorite value picks in the vintages section.
