Wine Review November 13, 2011 – Union Red – Cattail Creek Chardonnay Musqué

Union Red – LCBO 197152 – $12.95 – This is an excellent medium bodied, easy drinking red.  The  best thing about this wine is that there is no decanting required, simply open the cap and dive right into this bottle.  This is a rainbow of red fruit flavours that play really nicely with each other, you will find Currant, Plum and Cherry with a finish that is almost jammy.  But with the fact that this is a lighter Red it’s like the perfect houseguest that knows not to overstay it’s welcome with regards to aftertaste.

Cattail Creek Chardonnay Musqué – VINTAGES 222257 – $12.95 – A little sweet, a little crisp and very floral on the nose.  This is a steal from the Vintages section at this price.  We are looking at a Musqué that is typical in that it’s aroma is like being in a field of flowers mid summer.  With a nice acidity that will make this pair nicely with heavier cream based pasta dishes, or deep fried chicken.

There you have it both picks under $26.
