Wine Review November 11, 2012 – 2010 Peninsula Ridge AJ Lepp Vineyards Reserve Merlot – 2010 Henry of Pelham Family Tree White

2010 Peninsula Ridge AJ Lepp Vineyards Reserve Merlot – Vintages 299222 – $19.95 – A very interesting Merlot with an aroma of typical red fruits but the sensation is something I don’t find very often a damp, mossy, just after rain sensation that fills your nose.  It’s really wonderful!  The wine itself is very dry with a strong pressence of currant and a nice long, smooth finish.  This would pair well with grilled or roasted red meats and has a lot of versatility.  But to be honest, this falls into the category of wines that I personally wouldn’t pair with anything.

2010 Henry of Pelham Family Tree White – Vintages 251116 – $17.95 – Sometimes I forget about how good the White wines from Henry of Pelham are.  I am still stuck on the fantastic Baco Noir that comes from this place.  That being said this is a very balanced wine with flavours of Lemon/Citrus and a nice acidity to it that leaves a nice clean finish making this very food friendly.  This is one of those wines to pick up for Holiday gatherings as it is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
