Burnt Ship Bay Wines

2013 Burnt Ship Bay Cabernet Merlot – Vintages 404947 – $14.95 – ***1/2+ – This was a pleasant surprise when I opened the bottle.  Very fruit driven loaded with all sorts of blackberry, plum, and hints of black currant.  The tannin is soft and approachable right from the bottle.  This wine is straightforward, easy drinking and requires no time in a decanter or aging in a wine cellar.  I would consider this to be on the heavier side of medium bodied which means it’s very food friendly with beef, lamb or tomato based dishes.

2013 Burnt Ship Bay Pinot Grigio – Vintages 404939 – $14.95 – ***1/2 – Soft flavours loaded with bright lemon and lime with bright crisp acidity coming up on the finish.  Wines like this would fall into the category of party wine for me … the linear way the flavours roll off the back of your tongue means this is a match for just about anything you can pair with it foodwise making it a great match for dinner parties or gatherings of any sort.
