Wine Review September 23, 2012 – 2010 Southbrook Triomphe Cabernet Franc – 2011 Casa Dea Dea’s Cuvée

2010 Southbrook Triomphe Cabernet Franc – $21.95 – VINTAGES 275958 – I have made no secret that my favorite Red Wines over the past year or so have all been Cabernet Franc.  The way this wine fills your mouth with flavours of Black Currant moving to Cocoa and smoky on the finish.  The aftertaste leaves you with Cocoa and hangs around, similar to the sensation you get when you’re eating dark chocolate.  The spiciness that you usually find in Cabernet Franc is very subtle and not as strong as in most ontario cab franc’s.

2011 Casa Dea Dea’s Cuvee Sparkling – $15.95 – LCBO 261263 – Good Sparkling Wine at this price is truly a rarity.  Keep in mind at this price you’re certainly not drinking Clicquot… that being said this is something I would not be ashamed to put on the table come Christmas or Thanksgiving (coming up quick!).  It’s light with small bubbles flavours of peach and apple with a refreshing finish and nice acidity keeping this very easy drinking and food friendly.
