Wine Review November 23, 2013 – Union Forté 2007 – Malivoire Table Wine 2011 Riesling

Union Forté 2007 – Vintages 361758 – $16.95 – This port style wine is a much buy for your holiday entertaining and for your own kitchen.  There is fantastic depth to this wine while not being too heavy.  There are flavours of plum and raisin with nice spice as well.  There is very nice acidity to balance out the sweetness.  Beware drinking too full glasses on a warm winter days because trust me … this drinks very easy.  Outstanding value for an oustanding wine!  I will be stocking up on this wine to cook with duck over the holidays.

Malivoire Table Wine 2011 Riesling – LCBO 312736 – $13.95 – This is another label that jumped off the shelf while browsing the LCBO.  The aroma on this Riesling is subtle honey and apple with flavours that are more citrus and apple.  There is a bit of sweetness on this wine but it’s not overpowering.  There is still enough acidity with this wine to leave you with a nice clean finish.  This is a wine that is a teriffic friday night sipper but should pair well with lighter chicken dishes.
