2012 Lailey Select Late Harvest Vidal – Vintages 72918 – $19.95 – I know we tend to think about Icewine in the winter over Christmas and New Years but I prefer saving a bottle of two for spring and summer.  There is nothing better than serving a chilled glass of dessert wine and enjoy on the patio with a sunset.  Late Harvest is the less sweet cousin of Icewine and it’s perfect for the many people who feel that Icewine is just too sweet for their palates.  Honey, Apricot and Peach are what you will find in the glass with fantastic palate cleansing acidity to balance out the wine as it dances on your tongue.  Serve as dessert (not with) or with blue cheese or sharp cheddar as an appetizer.

2013 Flat Rock Cellars Pinot Noir Rosé – Vintages 39974 – $16.95 – I drink lots of wines that I really like, but it’s rare to find one that stops me mid sip.  For the springtime the Flat Rock Pinot Noir Rosé is that wine.  Just last week I profiled 8 very good Rosé’s for Mother’s Day but this one stands apart.  Lots of flavours of Cherry in the glass let you know that you are sipping a pinot noir.  This strikes the perfect balance between white and red wine.  There is enough weight to this wine that it will pair with just about anything summer can throw at it off the grill.  I anticipate drinking A LOT of this over the next few months and saving a bottle or two for turkey season.
