Wine Review March 29, 2014 – 2012 Tawse Gamay Noir – 2012 Coyote’s Run Red Paw Chardonnay

2012 Tawse Gamay Noir – Vintages 322545 – $18.95 – Gamay is one of the most underrated varietals from Ontario.  This beautiful Gamay is loaded with flavours of Dark Cherry, Ripe Raspberry and just a bit of Pepper on the finish.  Even at $18.95 I can’t help but feel that this wine is underpriced … but I am not the only one who is in on the secret if last years vintage was any indication this isn’t going to last on the LCBO shelves for very long.  This wine is extremely food friendly and will be a perfect match for Pizza, Tomato Sauce Pasta but easily be just as good with Roasted Chicken.

2012 Coyote’s Run Red Paw Chardonnay – Vintages 336115 – $21.95 – The aromas of this wine is just fantastic … if you’re not in the habit of swirling and taking a big whiff of your wine before taking your first sip you will start after pouring this wine.  The nose is vanilla and apple with flavours of apple, vanilla and toasted oak on the finish.  The finish is very soft on this wine and a little surprising considering how intense the aroma is off the top.  Even at this price point this wine is a fantastic value.
