2012 Trius Red – Vintages 303800 – $22.95 – A few weeks ago I got an email stating that Craig McDonald, winemaker at Trius had made his best Trius Red… period.  I am a fan of this wine because I feel this is a benchmark for full bodied Red wine in Ontario.  2012 was one of the best vintages ever for Ontario.  This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.  If you plan on drinking this wine now you will need to decant this wine for a little while before drinking it.  It usually takes 6 months or so in bottle for this wine to settle down (October 1st is marked on my Calendar).  It will definitely improve with a few years on the wine rack.  Flavours are fruit forward with Blueberry, Raspberry and Black Currant.  On the finish you get Black Pepper and Cocoa.  While the wine in the bottle is nothing short of fantastic what is noticeably absent is the man on the outside of the bottle… where did he go?

2013 Fielding Estate Sauvignon Blanc – Vintages 131235 – $18.95 – A fantastic sauvignon blanc to help usher in summer on the patio.  There is a lot of fruit in the bottle with flavours of lime, and melon.  You will find on the finish a little bit of savory flavours of roasted pepper.  This will pair with grilled fish or chicken.
