Wine Review – 2016 Chateau des Charmes Gamay Noir

2016 Chateau des Charmes Gamay Noir – LCBO 57349 – $15.95 – ****+ – One thing about the Chateau des Charmes Gamay is that every vintage it’s going to offer something fantastic. This is a little more savory than past vintages with a very strong pepper note that goes from nose to finish. Don’t get me wrong, you will still find your ripe cherries and blackberry buried under the spice but the smoke and pepper really stand front and center in this bottle. As with most of the bottles from Chateau des Charmes this knocks it out of the park in terms of value offered. Expect to find me cooking with this throughout the winter as this wine will make a perfect base to coq au vin or boeuf bourgignon … but don’t forget to drink the wine too.
