Remy Pannier

Here are a trio of french wines that will make great additions to your patio, dock or summer entertaining in general.  You don’t need to spend a lot of money to get decent french wine.

Rosé D’Anjou – LCBO 12641 – $14.00 ($13.00 until May 24, 2015) – ***1/2+ – The aromas of strawberry climb right out of the glass.  I poured this for some company and I could smell the wine clearly without having to bring the glass to my face.  Off-dry but with balanced acidity and alcohol only at 10% makes it easy to have a few glasses on a hot day.  I would pair this with lighter grilled meats from the grill (chicken or pork) but I am really looking forward to trying this with fried chicken.

Muscadet Sèvre et Maine – LCBO 13821 – $15.00 – ***1/2 – Bright and crisp.  This is the quintessential oyster and fresh fish wine.  Flavours of bright lemon dominate your palate.  The finish has nice yeasty note that leaves an almost creamy feeling in the mouth.

Sauvignon Blanc Touraine – LCBO 68676 – $15.00 – ***1/2+ – Lemon on the nose with hints of freshly cut grass mingled in there.  The flavours match with nice balance and very crisp acidity.  This will make a great patio sipper or partner with fried or grilled seafood.
