June 13 – 2013 Tawse Spark Ridge Riesling Sparkling – 2014 Wildass Rosé

2013 Tawse Spark Limestone Ridge Riesling Sparkling – Vintages 370361 – $19.95 – **** – This summer I vow to drink more Sparkling wine.  When you get wine’s of this quality under twenty dollars there is no reason to save this for the special occasions that Sparkling is usually saved for.  The nose is apple with very nice yeasty notes that smell just like rising dough.  Flavours are apple, and lemon.  The finish is nice and clean with great acidity.  Enjoy this on a patio on it’s own or with grilled chicken or pork.

2014 Wildass Rosé – Vintages 71712 – $17.95 – **** – It’s fun to wait for the release of the Wildass Rosé every year.  This wine is made at Stratus, their winemaker J-L Groux is the master of blending wines.  The mix in the bottle is never the same year to year.  This rosé has floral notes layered over strawberry and rhubarb on the mid palate.  There is a nice long finish on the wine with just a hint of sugar on the finish.  This wine has some great depth and balance making it essential for large barbeques because it will pair with just about anything off the grill.
