Creekside Sparkling Wines

2012 Creekside Sauvignon Blanc Backyard Bubbly – $24.95 – Winery Only – ****+ – What I found most interesting about this wine was the texture. There is a nice creamy texture that takes over your mid palate … when you serve this wine right out of the fridge you might guess it’s a sparkling Riesling. The bright citrus flavours of this wine dominate the palate along with the wonderful texture. As the wine starts to warm up, and it only takes a few degrees you start to get some more typical sauvignon blanc characteristics from the wine … passion fruit, pink grapefruit, even slight grassy notes start to poke through. When you serve this wine make sure you have a big glass so whoever is in enjoying it can have enough to give it a chance to warm up.

2011 Creekside “The Trad2” – $28.95 – Vintages 390366  – ****+ – My secret weapon for making the perfect hamburger at home is getting “affordable” buns… usually of the Wonder variety. This wine smells like the wonder bread buns that I love using to make the perfect hamburger. It also has crisp apple and citrus notes with just hints of vanilla on the nose and with flavours to match. A traditional blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir this is a worthy addition to the shelves of the LCBO for you Champagne style wines from ontario. Coming in less than thirty dollars this is well worth the money and something I am looking forward to using over the holidays… or you might find me pairing it with my homemade burgers served on Wonder-Bread buns.
