All I want for Christmas is…

Christmas has crept up on me. So if you’re anything like me chances are you are still looking for a perfect gift for the Wino on your list. I have come across a couple if big ticket items that would make any wine lover on your list raise an eyebrow.

Firstly, I recently had a chance to try the Zalto stemware. I have heard a few people buzzing about these wine glasses, but I am a skeptic until I get to try something myself. These wine glasses deliver! First off when you pick up the glass it will feel like there isn’t much in your hand. These stems are not as brittle as they might feel, but I wouldn’t want to risk abusing them. The glass is unbelievably thin but I have been assured that they are dishwasher safe. You can order these wine glasses directly via https://www.amphoratrading.com/ and through a handful of retailers in the city. The wine glasses range from $67.95 for the White Wine glasses to $79.95 for the Bordeaux and Burgundy glasses. I have been a big fan of carrying only three different glasses in my cupboard. The White wine glasses for Unoaked White Wines and Riesling. Burgundy Glasses for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and the occasional Beaujolais. Bordeaux Glasses for you big Red wines.

The second item is knowledge. Earlier this year I had the pleasure of attending the Brave New Wines course hosted by IWEG (Independent Wine Education Guild) which featured four weekly sessions highlighting different parts of the Ontario Wine industry. Honestly, you will not learn more about Ontario wine without leaving the city and attending yourself. These courses are concentrated and hosted by the people who make the wines. Each class is accompanied by a tasting. It’s a great way to spend your weekends in February. If you sign up before Christmas eve the course costs $300 in the new year it goes up to $350. https://www.iweg.org/courses/ontario-s-brave-new-wines
