Adamo – good things happening there

Adamo is a new winery in what most people are referring to as “emerging regions” located near Orangeville. This winery does have vines planted but many of the wines available currently come from Niagara fruit.

2014 Adamo Rosé – ***½ – An interesting pink wine that has something a little savoury and funky to it. The nose is ripe strawberry and watermelon. When you taste this wine it matches the nose but has something that’s a little like damp forest floor giving the wine a little depth. The funkiness is something I don’t normally expect in a rosé, so you have been warned. This will make a great match to ribs from the barbeque either smoked or grilled.

2014 Adamo Riesling – ****+ – This is an off-dry Riesling that smells like an orchard with apple and peach front and centre. The flavours in the glass are light and fruity and match the nose but offer up a nice mineral note on the mid palate on on the finish. The acidity bringbvs nice balance to the wine but the sweet finish to the wine lingers with peach and mineral notes. This will make a great patio sipper or something to pair with grilled chicken or white fish.
